Nickel 200 (UNS N02200) is a commercially pure wrought nickel with a minimum Ni content of 99.2%. This material demonstrates a unique combination of high corrosion resistance, especially in alkaline environments, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, as well as stable magnetostrictive characteristics. Its outstanding ductility is maintained over a wide range of temperatures, from cryogenic to moderately elevated.

Nickel 200 alloy retains high ductility and strength down to cryogenic temperatures. It exhibits exceptional inertness to aggressive alkaline media, including concentrated caustic soda solutions, as well as to halogens and organic acids. A key operational limitation is temperature: prolonged operation above 315°C (600°F) may lead to intergranular embrittlement due to graphitization, which is critical for product longevity. The modulus of elasticity and the coefficient of thermal expansion (with a Curie point around 360°C) depend on prior heat treatment.

Corrosion Resistance and Welding Technology
The material exhibits excellent resistance in reducing conditions. It is practically inert in neutral and alkaline salt solutions, making it indispensable for handling caustic soda. Welding is performed using standard methods (TIG, MIG, MMA). To prevent intergranular corrosion in the weld seam and maintain ductility, it is necessary to use welding materials with low carbon content, such as ERNi-1 filler wire or ENi-1 electrodes.
Key Application Areas
