ARI-Armaturen Safety Valves: Engineering Overview of SAFE and REYCO Series
Safety valves manufactured by ARI-Armaturen are a key element of passive safety systems, designed for automatic protection of technological equipment and pipeline networks from exceeding the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP). The valve mechanism ensures instantaneous discharge of excess working fluid — be it steam, gas, or liquid. Principle of operation: Under normal operating conditions, the spring force holds the disc (shutter) in the seat, ensuring complete tightness. When the pressure of the working medium at the valve inlet reaches the set pressure, the force acting on the disc exceeds the spring compression force. This leads to the disc lifting and the opening of the flow area for discharging excess medium. After the pressure drops to a safe level (reseating pressure), the valve automatically closes, restoring the system's tightness.

- SAFE Series: A specialized line designed for working with aggressive chemical media, toxic fluids, and in high-temperature conditions typical for oil refining and chemical production.

Engineering design features:
- Hermetic bellows assembly made of stainless steel, which isolates the spring mechanism from the effects of the working medium and compensates for back pressure at the outlet.
- Precision adjustment of the disc stroke to ensure accurate and stable actuation.
- Stellite overlay on the sealing surfaces of the seat and disc for maximum wear resistance and durability in abrasive and corrosive environments.
- Version with soft sealing (SHR) for systems with frequent actuation cycles and increased sealing requirements.
- Possibility of equipping with inductive position sensors and rupture discs for comprehensive safety control.
ARI-SAFE series valves are optimized for steam systems with temperatures up to 400 °C, guaranteeing minimal pressure loss during discharge and high reliability.
ARI-REYCO series safety valves
Key advantages for heavily loaded systems:
- Increased contact area of sealing surfaces to ensure Class "A" tightness according to API 527 standard.
- Reinforced spring block, designed for operation under high cyclic loads and vibrations.
- Balanced stainless steel bellows with a compensating piston for stable operation at high and variable back pressure.
- Optional version with a steam jacket for heating and changeover devices for creating redundant safety systems.
This series is designed for the most critical components of power installations, including main steam lines, turbine protection systems, and waste heat boilers.

Housing material execution
The choice of housing material is a critical parameter determining the service life and reliability of the valve. Products are manufactured from cast carbon steels (SA216WCB/WCC) for general industrial applications, austenitic stainless steels (1.4408, SA351 CF8M) for corrosive media, and ductile iron with spheroidal graphite (EN-JS1049) for systems with moderate parameters.
