JIS G3118 Pressure Vessel Steel: Technical specifications and supplies

Technical features and application of steel plates according to JIS G3118

The JIS G3118 standard regulates the requirements for hot-rolled carbon steel, intended for the production of equipment operating under pressure. This type of metal product from EV Group China is optimized for operation under moderate temperature conditions, ensuring high reliability of welded structures and pressure vessels.

The range of nominal thicknesses for steel plates that meet the standard requirements is presented in the following table:

Steel GradeSGV410SGV450SGV480

The chemical composition of SGV410, SGV450, and SGV480 steel grades is strictly controlled to ensure optimal weldability and mechanical properties of the material:

Note on chemical analysis:

  • For SGV410 grade plates with a thickness up to 12.5 mm inclusive, an adjustment of manganese content in the range of 0.60% to 0.90% is permitted.
  • Upon agreement between the customer and EV Group China, the upper limit of manganese content in the ladle analysis may be increased to 1.60%, provided that the mass fraction of carbon does not exceed 0.18%.
