Technical requirements of the ASTM B626 standard for heat exchanger equipment

The ASTM B626 specification establishes strict industry standards for the production of welded tubes intended for use in heat exchangers, condenser units, and high-temperature circuits. The standard covers products made from corrosion-resistant nickel and nickel-cobalt alloys, ensuring stability in aggressive environments.

Geometric parameters of the tubes regulated by the standard include:

  • Nominal outside diameter: from 1/8 to 3 1/2 inches (ranging from 3.2 to 88.9 mm).
  • Wall thickness: from 0.015 to 0.148 inches (ranging from 0.41 to 3.7 mm).
